ArLynn Leiber Presser will retell the compelling and charming story of the storybook town that started off as just a place along the way to someplace else. Try to not get teary eyed as you hear about the sacrfices and service of Winnetka son Dinsmore Ely. Be amazed by the friendship of educational pioneers Perry Dunlap Smith and Carleton Washburne. Hear how New Trier High School students raised the money to not only build an addition to their school but to build a fighter jet. This is a town of small sacrifices and quiet heroics–come join us for lunch and a small talk about our town. Copies of the book and the limited edition postcards will be made available. A lovely Winnetka lunch will be served.

Eight years after the death of his brother, Peter Butler stumbled onto a photo that flooded him with memories of his own childhood and of 1960s Winnetka.

Butler, of Winnetka, was thumbing through an issue of the April 2 issue of the Winnetka Talk when he noticed a picture of his brother John participating in a skating race in Hubbard Woods nearly 50 years ago.

The photo on this cover of ArLynn Leiber Presser’s upcoming book, “Images of America: Winnetka” was a happy surprise for Peter Butler, who recognized his deceased brother John in the photograph.

The photo is the cover of a soon-to-be-released photo history of the village, “Images of America: Winnetka,” by local author ArLynn Leiber Presser.

Read more on the Winnetka Talk website>

Sure, you can get it at Amazon.com but why would you want to? Support Winnetka business and purchase your copy at the Book Stall. Preordering already available!
